Uncle Kracker is an American singer-songwriter born Matthew Shafer in Mount Clemens, Michigan, in 1974. His music moves through pop rock and country, and he is known for the album Double Wide, the singles “Follow Me” and “Smile,” his recording of “Drift Away” with Dobie Gray, and “When the Sun Goes Down” with Kenny Chesney. Before releasing his solo debut, Uncle Kracker toured as the DJ in Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker band during the period surrounding Devil Without a Cause. In 2004, he opened for Kenny Chesney on the Guitars, Tiki Bars & a Whole Lotta Love Tour.
