Underoath is an American post-hardcore band formed in Tampa, Florida, in 1997. Their mix of metalcore, screamed vocals, clean choruses and electronic textures became closely associated with the albums They're Only Chasing Safety and Define the Great Line, including the songs “Reinventing Your Exit” and “Writing on the Walls.” The band closed its farewell tour at The Ritz Ybor in 2013, then reunited for the Rebirth Tour in 2016 and performed at Self Help Festival in San Bernardino. That tour featured complete performances of They're Only Chasing Safety and Define the Great Line. In 2024, they marked the former album’s twentieth anniversary by playing it in full alongside a fan-voted second set. Underoath performs as a full band, pairing Spencer Chamberlain’s screamed lead vocals with clean vocal parts sung by drummer Aaron Gillespie.
