Valentina Magaletti in Brooklyn

Valentina Magaletti is an Italian drummer, percussionist and composer from Bari who is based in London. Her experimental work draws on improvisation, electroacoustic music and dub, and she is known for the solo album A Queer Anthology of Drums and her work with Tomaga, Vanishing Twin, Moin and Holy Tongue. Tomaga performed at Cafe OTO in London during Magaletti’s years in the duo. She later presented work under her own name at Rewire in The Hague and appeared at Big Ears in Knoxville, alongside further concerts in collaborative groups. Her solo sets are structured around percussion, found objects, tape and electronics. In group performances, Moin pairs her drumming with Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead, while Holy Tongue places her percussion in direct exchange with Al Wootton’s electronics.
