Van Canto in Aschaffenburg

Van Canto are a German a cappella metal band formed in 2006. Their lineup uses several singers to reproduce guitar riffs, solos and bass parts, supported by a drummer. Albums including Tribe of Force and Dawn of the Brave, along with songs such as “The Mission” and “Speed of Light,” established their mix of original material and metal covers. Van Canto played Wacken Open Air in 2008, then joined Blind Guardian’s European Sacred Worlds and Songs Divine Tour as a support act in 2010. They have also brought their own headline shows to European venues and performed at Masters of Rock. The concert format centers on layered lead and rhythm vocals, including the band’s characteristic “rakkatakka” imitation of guitar parts, plus live drums. Their sets place original songs beside vocal arrangements such as Metallica’s “Battery.”
