Van Duren is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Tennessee whose melodic rock is closely associated with 1970s power pop. His best-known records include the debut album Are You Serious? and Idiot Optimism, while “Waiting” and “Chemical Fire” are among his signature songs.

In the 1970s, Van Duren played in the Baker Street Regulars with Jody Stephens before beginning his solo recording career. He later led Good Question, which performed around Memphis during the 1980s.
