Artist
Van Morrison is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and musician born in Belfast in 1945. He first became known as the lead singer of Them, whose recordings included “Gloria,” before establishing a solo catalogue led by “Brown Eyed Girl” and the albums Astral Weeks and Moondance. His music draws on rock, folk, blues, soul and jazz. The 1973 tour documented on It’s Too Late to Stop Now captured Van Morrison and the Caledonia Soul Orchestra at the Troubadour, Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and Rainbow Theatre. In 1976 he performed “Caravan” at the Band’s Last Waltz concert at Winterland Ballroom, a performance preserved in Martin Scorsese’s film The Last Waltz. His festival history includes repeated appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival and performances at Glastonbury Festival.
