Vashti Bunyan in Manchester

Vashti Bunyan is a British folk singer-songwriter born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1945. Her 1970 debut album, Just Another Diamond Day, drew on songs written during a horse-and-wagon journey to Scotland. Overlooked on release, the record found a new audience decades later; Bunyan subsequently resumed recording with Lookaftering and Heartleap. Her best-known songs include “Diamond Day” and “Train Song.” Vashti Bunyan returned to public performance in the mid-2000s after spending decades away from the music business. Concerts in Britain and North America followed the release of Lookaftering, and her sets drew on both her 1970 debut and later records. Her festival appearances during this period included All Tomorrow’s Parties.
