About Ville Valo

Ville Valo is a Finnish singer, songwriter and musician, born in 1976 and best known as the lead singer and principal songwriter of HIM. The band called its dark, melodic gothic rock “love metal” and recorded albums including Razorblade Romance and Love Metal, as well as songs such as “Join Me in Death,” “The Funeral of Hearts” and “Wings of a Butterfly.” Valo later released the solo album Neon Noir under the name VV.

In 2014, Valo fronted HIM at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Three years later, the band’s Bang & Whimper 2017 farewell tour ended with its final concert at Tavastia Club in Helsinki on New Year’s Eve. Valo returned to touring with a full band in 2023, combining solo material and HIM songs on the Neon Noir Tour.
