Vince Giordano And The Nighthawks is an American jazz orchestra formed in New York in 1976. Led by multi-instrumentalist and bandleader Vince Giordano, the ensemble performs jazz and popular music of the 1920s and 1930s using period arrangements. Its playing is heard throughout HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and in films including The Aviator and Carol. Monday- and Tuesday-night performances at Iguana in Manhattan became the orchestra’s long-running weekly residency. Vince Giordano directed the musicians while playing string bass, tuba and bass saxophone, leading brass, reeds and rhythm section through material drawn from his archive of vintage scores.
