Comedian
Vir Das is an Indian stand-up comedian and actor known for comedy that examines politics, religion, national identity and life between cultures. His screen credits include Delhi Belly and Go Goa Gone, while his Netflix specials include Abroad Understanding, For India, Outside In and Landing; Landing won the International Emmy for Comedy. Abroad Understanding, released in 2017, was assembled from performances in New Delhi and New York, making the contrast between the two rooms part of the special. During the 2020 lockdown, he performed online for audiences around the world and shaped those sessions into Outside In; he later returned to theatres with the Wanted Tour and Mind Fool Tour. His stage format is solo English-language stand-up, built around long-form stories and tightly written routines about politics, religion, migration and his relationship with India.
