Wayne Newton is an American singer and entertainer, born in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1942. Known as “Mr. Las Vegas,” he performs pop standards, swing and big-band material; his signature recordings include “Danke Schoen,” “Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast” and “Red Roses for a Blue Lady.”

In 1959, Newton began performing at the Fremont Hotel in Las Vegas, where his initial booking developed into a years-long engagement. He later headlined casino showrooms including the Stardust and Caesars Palace. In 2016, he opened Wayne Newton: Up Close and Personal, an autobiographical show combining songs and career stories, at Bally’s.
