About William Tyler & The Impossible Truth
William Tyler & The Impossible Truth is an American instrumental rock ensemble led by Nashville-born guitarist and composer William Tyler. Tyler previously played with Lambchop and Silver Jews, while the ensemble takes its name from his 2013 solo album Impossible Truth. Its repertory places melodic electric guitar within psychedelic rock, country and kosmische music.
The quartet’s May 2021 concert at Standard Deluxe in Waverly, Alabama, was recorded for the live album Secret Stratosphere. Released in 2023, the recording moved through Tyler’s catalog and concluded with Sun Ra’s “Nuclear War.”
The live lineup featured William Tyler on guitar, Luke Schneider on pedal steel and synthesizer, Jack Lawrence on bass and Brian Kotzur on drums.
