About Wreckless Eric
Wreckless Eric is the stage name of British singer-songwriter Eric Goulden, born in Newhaven, East Sussex, in 1954. An early Stiff Records artist, he writes sharp-edged punk, pub rock and power pop, and is best known for the 1977 song “Whole Wide World.” His early catalogue also includes “Reconnez Cherie” and the album Wreckless Eric.
In 1977, he joined the Live Stiffs Tour, a Stiff Records package tour featuring Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, Nick Lowe and Larry Wallis; recordings from the shows appeared on Live Stiffs Live. In the 2000s he recorded and toured as a duo with American singer-songwriter Amy Rigby.
