Kotaro Oshio in Matsusaka

Kotaro Oshio is a Japanese acoustic guitarist and composer, born in Osaka in 1968. His instrumental music is distinguished by fingerstyle melody, tapping, harmonics and percussive techniques. The album Starting Point marked his major-label debut, and his best-known pieces include “Twilight,” “Fight!” and “Hard Rain.” At the 2002 Montreux Jazz Festival, he presented his solo acoustic-guitar repertoire and also performed with B.B. King. A Kotaro Oshio recital places one steel-string acoustic guitar at the center; fingerpicked melody, tapping, harmonics and body percussion all form part of the performance.
