Yamandu Costa is a Brazilian guitarist and composer, born in Passo Fundo in 1980. A specialist in the seven-string guitar, he draws on choro, samba, bossa nova, chamamé and milonga; albums including Mafuá and Lida established his instrumental repertoire. Yamandu Costa has presented his music internationally in solo recitals, collaborative concerts and festival performances, including an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival. He also performed a solo Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music, using the seven-string guitar to carry melody, harmony and rhythm within a single set.
