Yasuaki Shimizu in Oslo

Yasuaki Shimizu is a Japanese saxophonist, composer and producer whose work moves through jazz, experimental pop and ambient music. His best-known recordings include the solo albums Kakashi and Music for Commercials, Mariah’s Utakata no Hibi, and his tenor-saxophone interpretations of Bach’s Cello Suites with the Saxophonettes. At Le Guess Who? in Utrecht, Yasuaki Shimizu presented Kakashi with a live ensemble, returning the album to the stage decades after its release. He later performed material from the record at the Barbican in London.
