Yemen Blues is an Israeli band formed in 2010 by singer Ravid Kahalani. Its music draws on Yemenite Jewish traditions, blues, funk and jazz, led by Kahalani’s multilingual vocals. The group became known through its self-titled debut album and the Bill Laswell-produced Insaniya. Following the debut album, the band took its ensemble-based show to festivals including WOMAD and Roskilde Festival. Its concerts center on Kahalani’s voice and percussion-driven rhythms, supported by instruments including brass, strings and oud. The group has also performed at Central Park SummerStage in New York.
