Yoshida Brothers are a Japanese instrumental duo formed by brothers Ryoichiro and Kenichi Yoshida, who grew up in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido. They play Tsugaru-jamisen through traditional repertoire, original compositions and rock-oriented arrangements. They debuted on record with Ibuki in 1999; later releases include Move and the self-titled Yoshida Brothers, while “Rising” became one of their best-known instrumentals. In 2003, Yoshida Brothers made their first US concert appearance at the Bowery Ballroom in New York. Further North American touring followed, including a performance at South by Southwest in Austin.
