YU Grupa is a Serbian rock band formed in Belgrade in 1970 by brothers Dragi and Žika Jelić. Its hard and progressive rock draws on Balkan folk melodies, heard in songs including “Čudna šuma,” “Crni leptir,” “Mornar” and “Dunavom šibaju vetrovi.” The band gave its first concert at the Sinagoga club in Zemun in November 1970. Following a break during the 1980s, YU Grupa appeared at the Legende YU Rocka concert at Dom Sportova in Zagreb in 1987, then resumed recording and performing. In 2022, the group celebrated more than five decades of work with a concert at Tašmajdan Stadium in Belgrade.
