Zélia Duncan in Rio de Janeiro

Zélia Duncan is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, born in Niterói in 1964, whose music draws on MPB, pop, folk and samba. Her self-titled 1994 album included “Catedral,” which became one of her signature songs; her repertoire also includes “Enquanto Durmo,” “Alma” and “Nos Lençóis Desse Reggae.” In 2006, Zélia Duncan joined the reunited Os Mutantes for their concert at the Barbican in London and subsequently toured with the group. Her later stage work included Totatiando, a theatrical concert built around the songs of Itamar Assumpção.
