Ziggy Marley & Thievery Corporation in Highland Park

Ziggy Marley is a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter and musician, born in Kingston in 1968. A son of Bob and Rita Marley, he first became known as the leader of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, whose recordings included “Tomorrow People” and the album Conscious Party. His solo catalogue includes “True to Myself” and the albums Dragonfly and Fly Rasta. Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers toured internationally throughout the 1980s and 1990s. After beginning his solo career, he toured behind Love Is My Religion and later took Rebellion Rises on the road in 2018. In 2021, he performed a concert devoted to his father’s music at the Hollywood Bowl.

Thievery Corporation is an American electronic group formed in Washington, D.C., in 1995 by Rob Garza and Eric Hilton. Their music draws on downtempo, dub, bossa nova and reggae, and the group is known for albums including The Mirror Conspiracy and The Richest Man in Babylon, as well as the song “Lebanese Blonde.” The 2010 album and concert film Live at the 9:30 Club documented Thievery Corporation’s touring ensemble in its home city. In 2017, the group performed with an orchestra at the Kennedy Center, a concert later presented on the album Symphonik. A standard Thievery Corporation concert uses a live band, percussion and multiple vocalists. Longtime collaborators LouLou Ghelichkhani and Natalia Clavier have been part of that concert format. Thievery Corporation have taken the live band to Coachella in California and Glastonbury Festival in England.
