A Perfect Circle is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel and vocalist Maynard James Keenan. The band became known through the albums Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step, including songs such as “Judith,” “3 Libras” and “Weak and Powerless,” and later released Eat the Elephant. In 2000, A Perfect Circle supported Nine Inch Nails on the Fragility v2.0 tour as their own headline schedule expanded. The band returned to the stage for a series of shows in 2010 and performed at Lollapalooza in 2011. The 2024 Sessanta tour used a rotating-set format and featured collaborations among A Perfect Circle, Primus and Puscifer.
The Cult are a British rock band formed in Bradford in 1983 by singer Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy. Their music moved from post-punk and gothic rock toward hard rock on albums including Love, Electric and Sonic Temple. Their best-known songs include “She Sells Sanctuary,” “Rain,” “Love Removal Machine” and “Fire Woman.” During the 1987 tour behind Electric, Guns N’ Roses opened for The Cult on North American dates. The band joined Metallica’s Damaged Justice tour for arena shows in 1989, then revisited its own catalogue on the Electric 13 tour in 2013, performing Electric in full. The 2019 A Sonic Temple tour marked the album’s 30th anniversary. They performed at Rock in Rio at the Maracanã in 1991 and at Download Festival in Donington Park in 2006.
