Artist
African Head Charge are a British dub group formed in 1981 by percussionist and vocalist Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah and producer Adrian Sherwood. They are known for bass-heavy, percussion-led records shaped by Sherwood’s production for On-U Sound, including My Life in a Hole in the Ground, Environmental Studies, Off the Beaten Track and Songs of Praise. The group developed into a touring ensemble during the 1980s. Live Pride and Joy documented the stage band in 1990, and Akwaaba provided another concert recording in 1995. Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah leads the performances on hand percussion and vocals.
