Mad Professor is the stage name of Neil Fraser, a Guyana-born British dub producer who founded Ariwa Sounds in London in 1979. He is known for the Dub Me Crazy album series, collaborations with Lee “Scratch” Perry, and No Protection, his dub reworking of Massive Attack’s album Protection. Mad Professor has carried Ariwa’s studio methods into live dub sets, manipulating multitrack recordings and effects from a mixing desk in real time. He has performed at reggae and bass events including Rototom Sunsplash and Outlook Festival, while appearances with Lee “Scratch” Perry brought their recording partnership to the concert stage.
