Alash Ensemble in Saratoga Springs

Alash Ensemble is a Tuvan throat-singing group formed by students at Kyzyl Arts College in 1999. The ensemble performs traditional songs and original compositions using khoomei vocal techniques and instruments including the igil, doshpuluur and byzaanchy. Its recordings include the albums Alash and Buura. The ensemble began touring the United States in 2006 and later joined Béla Fleck and the Flecktones on a holiday tour after contributing to the album Jingle All the Way. Further appearances included the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Carnegie Hall in New York.
