Alune Wade is a Senegalese bassist, singer and composer from Dakar who plays jazz shaped by West African rhythms, funk, Afrobeat and gnawa. His albums include Mbolo, Ayo, African Fast Food and Sultan; he also recorded Havana-Paris-Dakar with Cuban pianist Harold López-Nussa. At 18, Alune Wade joined Ismaël Lô’s band and spent several years touring internationally as its bassist. He later toured with Salif Keita and performed with Joe Zawinul.
