American Patchwork Quartet is an American ensemble founded by guitarist and arranger Clay Ross. Falu Shah sings, Ross plays guitar and sings, Yasushi Nakamura plays bass, and Clarence Penn plays drums. The quartet recasts traditional folk songs through Americana, jazz and Hindustani classical music. Its self-titled, 14-track debut album arrived in 2024 and was nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. On June 18, 2024, the group made its debut at the Grand Ole Opry.
Gina Chavez is an American singer-songwriter based in Austin, Texas, who performs bilingual Latin pop and folk. Her best-known releases include Up.Rooted and La Que Manda, while “Siete-D,” “Fire Water” and “Miles de Millas” are among the songs associated with her catalog. She performed at SXSW in 2011, recorded a Tiny Desk Concert in 2015 and returned to SXSW in 2016. The Tiny Desk set featured Chavez singing with a band in the NPR Music office.
