Artist
Amon Amarth are a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Tumba in 1992. Their songs draw heavily on Norse mythology and Viking history, and their best-known records include With Oden on Our Side, Twilight of the Thunder God and Jomsviking; “The Pursuit of Vikings” and “Guardians of Asgaard” are established parts of their catalogue. The Jomsviking tour carried the band through Europe and North America, followed by the Berserker World Tour in 2019. In 2022, Amon Amarth and Machine Head co-headlined the Vikings and Lionhearts Tour, supported by The Halo Effect. Their concerts are full-band metal performances led by vocalist Johan Hegg. Viking-themed stage pieces have accompanied several tours, while the synchronized audience “rowing pit” became closely associated with “Put Your Back into the Oar.” They have returned for concerts in Helsinki and Berlin.
