Australian Crawl are an Australian rock band formed in 1978 on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Led by James Reyne’s vocals, they played pop and pub rock shaped by surf influences. Their best-known work includes the albums The Boys Light Up, Sirocco and Sons of Beaches, and the songs “Beautiful People,” “Downhearted” and “Reckless.” They entered the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1996. The band began on the pub circuit and performed at Oz for Africa, part of the 1985 Live Aid program. A Melbourne farewell performance was released as The Final Wave, and the original run ended with a final concert in February 1986 at Perth Entertainment Centre.
Boom Crash Opera are an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in 1984. Their guitar-led pop rock became known through songs including “Great Wall,” “Hands Up in the Air,” “Onion Skin” and “Dancing in the Storm,” drawn from the albums Boom Crash Opera and These Here Are Crazy Times. The 1986–87 Australian Made tour placed the band on major outdoor and stadium stages alongside INXS and Jimmy Barnes. After releasing These Here Are Crazy Times, they toured beyond Australia and opened for U2 on Australian dates of the Lovetown Tour.
