About Bad Brains
Bad Brains are an American band formed in Washington, D.C., in 1977. They play breakneck hardcore punk alongside reggae and are known for songs including “Pay to Cum,” “Banned in D.C.” and “I Against I,” as well as the albums Bad Brains, Rock for Light and I Against I.
After Washington clubs effectively barred Bad Brains in 1979, the band relocated to New York and performed frequently at CBGB. A Christmas Eve concert there in 1982 was later released as Live at CBGB 1982. Their 1987 performance documented on The Youth Are Getting Restless took place at the Paradiso in Amsterdam.
