About Barrence Whitfield & The Savages
Barrence Whitfield & The Savages are an American rhythm-and-blues and rock-and-roll band formed in Boston in 1983. Led by singer Barrence Whitfield, they became known for the albums Barrence Whitfield & The Savages and Dig Yourself!, then renewed their recording career with Savage Kings and Under the Savage Sky.
In the 1980s, the band toured clubs across the United States, Britain and continental Europe, where its hard-edged R&B found a durable audience. After re-forming around 2010, the group returned to club and festival stages on both sides of the Atlantic. Original guitarist Peter Greenberg was part of that reunited touring lineup.
