Benediction in Mexico City

Benediction are an English death metal band formed in Birmingham in 1989. Their early records helped establish the blunt, riff-heavy sound associated with British old-school death metal, particularly Subconscious Terror, The Grand Leveller and Transcend the Rubicon. Original vocalist Mark “Barney” Greenway left to join Napalm Death, while longtime singer Dave Ingram later returned for Scriptures. Benediction toured Europe with Bolt Thrower after The Grand Leveller and followed Transcend the Rubicon with further international dates. In later decades the band carried that catalogue onto festival stages, including Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock Open Air and Party.San Metal Open Air.
