Comedian
Bill Bailey is a British comedian, musician and actor, born in Bath in 1965. His stand-up combines observational comedy, surreal digressions and musical parody. He is also known as Manny Bianco in the sitcom Black Books, as a team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks and as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing in 2020. Part Troll was filmed at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2004, and the Tinselworm tour reached Wembley Arena in 2007. The following year, Bill Bailey presented Bill Bailey’s Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra. Later theatre and arena tours have included Larks in Transit and En Route to Normal. His solo shows move between stand-up, songs and musical demonstrations. Bailey performs on keyboards and guitars, builds pieces with loops and uses familiar styles and melodies as material for jokes. Australia has long been a recurring market for his tours, while his New Zealand dates have included Auckland.
