About Billy Howerdel

Billy Howerdel is an American guitarist, songwriter and producer, best known as the co-founder and principal composer of A Perfect Circle. He formed the band with Maynard James Keenan in Los Angeles and helped shape albums including Mer de Noms, Thirteenth Step and Eat the Elephant. He also records as Ashes Divide and released the synth-led solo album What Normal Was under his own name.

A Perfect Circle made its live debut at the Viper Room in 1999, then supported Nine Inch Nails on the Fragility v2.0 tour in 2000 before mounting its own theatre and arena tours. In 2022, Billy Howerdel performed in clubs and theatres on a solo run supporting What Normal Was, accompanied by a live band and supported by VOWWS.
