About Black Eyes
Black Eyes were an American experimental punk band formed in Washington, D.C., in 2001. The group recorded two albums for Dischord Records: the self-titled Black Eyes and Cough, which appeared after the band broke up in 2004. Their post-hardcore and noise rock used interlocking percussion, shouted vocals and saxophone, and “Deformative” became one of their best-known songs.
Black Eyes toured during their original run using two drum kits, while several members traded vocal and instrumental parts. In 2023, they reunited for their first performances in 19 years to mark the debut album’s 20th anniversary, including a hometown show at Black Cat.
