About The Jesus Lizard
The Jesus Lizard is an American noise-rock band formed in Austin in 1987 and closely associated with Chicago. The group is known for the albums Head, Goat and Liar, and for songs including “Mouth Breather,” “Nub” and “Puss.”
A 1992 performance at CBGB in New York was documented on the live album Show. After splitting in 1999, the original quartet returned for concerts in 2009 and reunited again in 2017.
The classic lineup featured David Yow on vocals, Duane Denison on guitar, David Wm. Sims on bass and Mac McNeilly on drums. Yow’s dives into the audience became a documented feature of the band’s performances.
The band performed at Pitchfork Music Festival in 2009 and at Riot Fest in 2017.
