Bohren & Der Club Of Gore in Mannheim

Bohren & Der Club of Gore is a German instrumental group formed in Mülheim an der Ruhr in 1992. The band plays extremely slow, sparse jazz shaped by ambient and doom metal, a style often called doom jazz or dark jazz. Its central recordings include Gore Motel, Sunset Mission, Black Earth and Piano Nights. An NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert documented the group’s live format: saxophone, electric piano, bass and drums moving at the same deliberate pace heard on its records. The group has brought that setup to clubs, theatres and festivals, including a 2017 performance at Roadburn in Tilburg.
