The Boomtown Rats are an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1975, fronted by Bob Geldof. Their new wave and punk-rooted sound produced songs including “Rat Trap” and “I Don’t Like Mondays,” while A Tonic for the Troops and The Fine Art of Surfacing established their best-known period on record. The Boomtown Rats played Wembley Stadium at Live Aid in 1985, performing both of their signature songs. Their appearance at Self Aid at the RDS in Dublin the following year became their last concert before a long hiatus. The band reunited in 2013 and returned to the stage at the Isle of Wight Festival.
