Boz Scaggs is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist born in Canton, Ohio, in 1944. After recording with the Steve Miller Band, he established a solo catalogue spanning rock, soul, blues and pop. His best-known album, Silk Degrees, includes “Lowdown,” “Lido Shuffle” and “We’re All Alone.” Boz Scaggs performed with the Steve Miller Band at the Monterey International Pop Festival in 1967. In 2010, he joined Donald Fagen and Michael McDonald for the Dukes of September Rhythm Revue tour, whose repertoire drew on the three musicians’ catalogues and soul standards. The trio later filmed a 2012 concert at Lincoln Center.
Irma Thomas is an American soul and New Orleans R&B singer, born Irma Lee in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, in 1941 and known as the “Soul Queen of New Orleans.” Her early recordings include “It’s Raining,” “Ruler of My Heart,” “Wish Someone Would Care,” “Anyone Who Knows What Love Is” and “Time Is on My Side,” and she worked with songwriter-producer Allen Toussaint. Her 2006 album After the Rain won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. In the 1980s, Irma Thomas and her husband-manager opened the Lion’s Den in New Orleans, where she regularly headlined, and she also toured Europe.
