About Brushy One String
Brushy One String is the stage name of Jamaican singer and guitarist Andrew Chin, who performs reggae and blues-rooted songs on an acoustic guitar fitted with a single string. He became known through the filmed performance of “Chicken in the Corn” from the documentary RiseUp, and his recordings include the album Destiny.
Brushy One String performed a Tiny Desk Concert at NPR Music’s Washington, D.C. offices, presenting the solo format that defines his shows: voice, one string and percussion played on the guitar body. He has also brought that setup to WOMAD New Zealand and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
