Alan Doyle in Sydney

Alan Doyle is a Canadian singer, songwriter and actor, born in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador, in 1969. He is best known as a co-founder and the lead singer of folk-rock band Great Big Sea, whose repertoire includes “Ordinary Day,” “When I’m Up” and “Sea of No Cares.” His solo work began with Boy on Bridge and continued with albums including So Let’s Go and A Week at the Warehouse. In 2012 and 2013, the XX Tour celebrated Great Big Sea’s 20th anniversary through concerts in Canada and the United States. Doyle subsequently toured under his own name with the Beautiful Beautiful Band, mounting theatre and festival runs connected to So Let’s Go, A Week at the Warehouse and Rough Side Out. He sings and plays guitar and bouzouki, and his sets combine solo material with songs he first performed in Great Big Sea.
