Chali 2na & Cut Chemist in Buena Vista

Chali 2na is an American rapper and visual artist, born Charles Stewart in Chicago in 1971. He is known for his deep baritone delivery and as a founding member of alternative hip-hop group Jurassic 5; he was also part of Ozomatli’s early lineup. His catalog includes the Jurassic 5 tracks “Concrete Schoolyard,” “Quality Control” and “What’s Golden,” as well as the solo album Fish Outta Water. Chali 2na spent the late 1990s and 2000s touring as a member of Jurassic 5, whose concerts featured four MCs and two DJs. The group’s reunion brought him to Coachella in 2013 and Glastonbury in 2014. After releasing Adventures of a Reluctant Superhero together, Chali 2na and British DJ Krafty Kuts took their rapper-and-DJ show on tour.

Cut Chemist is an American DJ, producer and turntablist associated with Los Angeles. He is known for his work with Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli, his collaborations with DJ Shadow, and solo records including The Audience’s Listening and Die Cut. Brainfreeze began as a live all-45s set with DJ Shadow and was recorded at a Future Primitive event in San Francisco in 1999. In 2007, the pair premiered The Hard Sell at the Hollywood Bowl, building a new performance around turntables, mixers and samplers. They reunited for the 2014 Renegades of Rhythm tour, which drew its sets from the record collection of Afrika Bambaataa.
