About Cherish The Ladies

Cherish The Ladies is an American Irish traditional music ensemble formed in New York City in 1985. Led by flute and whistle player Joanie Madden, the group is known for combining instrumental tunes, folk songs and Irish step dancing on recordings including The Back Door, Woman of the House and Christmas in Ireland.

Cherish The Ladies has toured internationally since the 1980s, presenting its music in theatres, performing-arts centres and folk festivals. Its concert history includes appearances at the White House and the Kennedy Center, while the PBS special An Irish Homecoming documented the ensemble’s stage repertoire.
