Chris Botti is an American trumpeter and composer, born in Oregon in 1962, whose music draws on contemporary jazz and pop. He is known for the albums When I Fall in Love, To Love Again, Italia and Impressions. In 1990, he joined Paul Simon’s touring band, and he later performed on Sting’s Brand New Day tour. In 2005, he began a long-running holiday residency at the Blue Note in New York. His 2008 concerts at Symphony Hall were filmed for Chris Botti in Boston and featured Sting, Steven Tyler, John Mayer, Josh Groban and Yo-Yo Ma.
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is an American ensemble founded in 1945 and based in Atlanta. It performs symphonic and choral classical music and is especially known for recordings made under music director Robert Shaw, including Berlioz’s Requiem and Britten’s War Requiem with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. Atlanta Symphony Hall has served as the orchestra’s principal home since 1968. The ensemble made its Carnegie Hall debut in 1971 under Robert Shaw and undertook its first European tour in 1988.
