Club d'Elf is an American improvisational collective founded in Boston in 1998 by bassist Mike Rivard. The group plays dub-heavy jazz and psychedelic rock shaped by the rhythms and instrumentation of Moroccan Gnawa music. Its recordings include As Above and You Never Know. Club d'Elf established a long-running residency at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, where a rotating cast of musicians performed largely improvised sets. Recordings from those nights supplied As Above, while a later concert in Hudson, New York, was released as Live at Club Helsinki.
