Cristina Branco in Aveiro

Cristina Branco is a Portuguese fado singer, born in Almeirim in 1972. Her repertoire places traditional fado beside contemporary songwriting and settings of Portuguese poetry. Albums including Murmúrios, Ulisses, the José Afonso tribute Abril and Menina established the main strands of her recorded work. The concert album Cristina Branco in Holland documented her early performances for Dutch audiences. Her concerts feature vocals supported by an acoustic ensemble built around Portuguese guitar, and she later took this repertoire to theatres and festivals, performing particularly often in France and the Netherlands.
