Dschinghis Khan in Osterode am Harz

Dschinghis Khan is a West German pop and disco group assembled in Munich in 1979 by producer Ralph Siegel. Its debut single, “Dschinghis Khan,” was also its Eurovision entry that year, while “Moskau” became another signature recording. The Eurovision Song Contest 1979 brought the six-member lineup to Jerusalem, where it performed “Dschinghis Khan” and finished fourth. Surviving original members reunited at the Retro FM festival in Moscow in 2005, returning to the ensemble vocals, costumes and synchronized choreography associated with the act. The revived group followed that appearance with a performance in Ulaanbaatar in 2006 during celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the Mongol Empire.
