About Dulce Pontes
Dulce Pontes is a Portuguese singer, born in Montijo in 1969, whose repertoire encompasses fado, traditional song and pop. She represented Portugal at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest with “Lusitana Paixão” and became closely associated with “Canção do Mar.” Her principal recordings include the albums Lágrimas and O Primeiro Canto, as well as Focus, made with Ennio Morricone.
At the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest in Rome, Dulce Pontes performed “Lusitana Paixão” before an international television audience. Her later concert work reached major halls outside Portugal, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York.
