Ebru Gündeş in Istanbul

Ebru Gündeş is a Turkish singer, born in Istanbul in 1974, who performs pop and arabesk. She made her recording debut with Tanrı Misafiri and is known for songs including “Fırtınalar,” “Çingenem” and “Araftayım,” delivered in her low, powerful vocal style. In 1999, Gündeş suffered a cerebral hemorrhage during a televised presentation for the album Dön Ne Olur and underwent emergency surgery. She returned to performing after her recovery and later became closely associated with concert engagements at Istanbul’s Günay Restaurant.
