About Edson Gomes
Edson Gomes is a Brazilian roots-reggae singer and songwriter, born in Cachoeira, Bahia, in 1955. His songs address inequality, racism and everyday life, and his best-known recordings include “Malandrinha,” “Samarina,” “Árvore” and “Criminalidade,” alongside albums such as Reggae Resistência and Campo de Batalha.
Ao Vivo em Salvador documented his concert repertoire with Banda Cão de Raça, the group closely associated with his performances. He has also brought that catalogue to República do Reggae, a major gathering for Brazilian reggae in Bahia.
